Having an attitude of gratitude can be the most difficult thing when your circumstances don’t don’t look so good.
What is there to be thankful for when you get a flat tire?
Or a bad grade?
You lose something special?
You get into a fight with a friend?
When you know what you want to do, but you don’t know what your next step is?
The answer is there is always something to be thankful for!
You can be thankful that there is breath in your lungs, because as long as you’re breathing you have purpose. You can be thankful that you’re safe, or that you have a roof over your head! Even when you know what you want to do, but aren’t sure how to get there. You can be thankful you have vision, because as long as you have vision you have direction and we were all given vision by God Himself!
Being thankful in hard times and being patient for your vision to come to pass is easier said than done. We want what we want now and choosing to be bitter is the easier choice! However, maintaining an attitude of gratitude is what will carry you through and actually bring your vision to pass!
Joseph in the bible had a vision that he would be the second most powerful man in all of Egypt and he would be. Little did he know that first he’d be thrown in a pit, he’d have to serve and he’d go to prison before it would ever come to pass. Joseph could’ve chosen to be bitter and angry, but instead he chose to be thankful and present. And his authority noticed!
When we are thankful and we remain present even in jobs we don’t like people pay attention and it actually helps us move forward towards our vision!
Joseph worked hard and God honored him by preparing him in each of those places to step into his purpose.
We could all take a lesson from Joseph and realize that God is using our setback as our set up for His calling on our lives!
